SHOWING ATTENTION

Attention is the process that a person concentrates on some features of the environment to the (relative) exclusion of others. Attention is a general interest that leads people  want to know more. There are two kinds of attention expressions, namely asking for attention and showing attention.

  

1. Showing Attention

   

-Oh, I see.

- Is that all?

- Tell me more about it.
 - Oh my God! What happens next?
  -  What's next?
   

2. Asking for Attention
     - Attention, please!

    - May I have your attention, please!
    - Your attention, please!
    - Excuse me!

    - Sorry to trouble you. 
    - Sorry to bother you.

    - Look, what I've got here.
    - Look!
     - Hey!
      (Hey!)
    - Hey, listen! I have a good news.

    - Hi, guess! I got an interesting news.
    - Listen! I have something to tell you.

Jika ada seseorang meminta perhatian, maka jawaban yang bisa diucapkan adalah sebagai berikut:
- Yes, please
- All right.
 - Certainly.

Contoh Dialogue:

Read and practise the following dialogue then answer the questions

Mrs. Susi	: Don’t be noisy.  Attention  please!
Students	: Yes, Ma’am
Mrs. Susi	: Okay, next week we will do mid-examination.
Students	: What !
Mrs. Susi	: Listen to me!
Students	: Yes, Ma’am
Mrs. Susi	: The material that should be learned is from Chapter 1 until chapter 4.  Don’t forget to enrich your vocabularies with exercise!
Students	: Yes Ma’am
Mrs. Susi	: Okay, that’s all  for today. Good luck then!
